Delivering pixel-perfect flexible packaging is an art at which only a few people excel. There has to be an entire checklist that needs to be followed before finalizing the print file of your flexible packaging products. Here are a few tips and tricks that might come in handy for you.
1. The Colour Space
- The colour determines the entire visuals of your packaging, so all in all, you absolutely cannot make a mistake in picking the right colour. The colour should be selected in a way that the text on it is visible, is aligned with your product and also looks attractive. Once you have finalized the colour and design for your packaging, it doesn’t end here. Our computers use an RGB colour space and commercial printers use a CMYK colour space. Sending the wrong colour space design might turn out a disaster in the final print. Hence make sure to keep a track of this.
2. Brand Identity
- Your product packaging should reflect your brand by all means. Be it the colour, font, design, shape or logo, the branding experience should be inbuilt in such a way, that just the first glance of the product takes the consumer on a memory lane of your brand.
3. Choosing the Right Paper and Ink
- This step is crucially important. The papers available for printing come in a variety of sizes, textures and weights. If the print file is to be folded or moulded on your packaging, a lightweight paper might be something you need. If you wish your consumer to know what is there inside the packaging, you can opt for transparent labelling. The ink that lasts longer and doesn’t get smudged should be preferred. In fact, today environment-friendly inks are available in the market to ensure minimal harm to nature.
4. Keep in Mind the End Product
- We shouldn’t be so involved in designing the packaging that we miss out on the pointers that are crucial for our product. The design should be picked in a way that the product is displayed in the required format, can be packaged easily and ensure zero spillage.
5. Planning your Bleeds
- A bleed is an additional part that goes in folds and moulds or cutting at the edges. While designing the packaging, these bleeds are to be included so, that during the final printing, the design stays unaffected, no matter what. Keeping additional space while printing is always advisable.
